353. Terms Of Service Made Simple

Let’s be real—who actually reads those endless terms and conditions?

According to Time Magazine you’d need 76 work days to read all your privacy policies each year.

Ain’t nobody got time for that!

But thankfully there’s a solution: The Terms of Service Doctor (tosdr.org).

This handy site gives you a quick overview and ratings for Terms and Privacy policies, so you can see the key points without all the hassle.

Consider it your personal lawyer, minus the hefty fee!

354. What Those Little Recycle Numbers Mean

Ever noticed the tiny numbers inside the recycling symbol and wondered what they mean?

You know… These little things:

Those numbers range from 1 to 7, and tell you what type of material you’re dealing with.

The thing is, not all regions recycle all categories. So here’s a quick reference guide:

  • 1 (PETE): Plastic bottles (like soda and water)

  • 2 (HDPE): Milk jugs, detergent bottles

  • 3 (PVC): Plumbing pipes, clear food packaging

  • 4 (LDPE): Grocery bags, some food wraps

  • 5 (PP): Yogurt containers, bottle caps

  • 6 (PS): Disposable coffee cups, plastic utensils

  • 7 (Other): Miscellaneous plastics (like BPA and some food containers)

Look up your city or town’s recycling policies, and use the above list to make sure you're recycling right!

355. Winter Survival Kit for Your Car

It’s starting to get cold outside (at least for most of the people on this mailing list).

One of the best things you can do to prepare yourself is to throw in:

  1. a blanket

  2. a spare hat

  3. gloves

  4. a shovel

  5. some cat litter.

These items could literally save your life if your car decides to break down somewhere.

And it's something that will take a couple minutes to do.
